The various negative elements of our times help create a strong need for security. It is important to share magic moments with family and friends.

There is a need to focus on the attractive and festive sides of life; on simple happiness, in which decoration and aesthetics play an important part. However, this by no means heralds the coming of a baroque, fairytale world. This is a reflection of life itself, including its downsides. Male and female elements come together in contrasting environments of couture and punk.

Elegant corsages are decorated with piercings and tattoos for contrast. Other contrasts are found in the use of colour.

This is expressed by contrasting light and dark strongly, rather like Rembrandt in his paintings (claire obscure). The result is a decorative and luxurious ambience, with a wealth of ornaments and a contemporary feel, created by unexpectedly magnified shapes, sizzling, bright colours or harsh material contrasts.

Interior, general
Colour- warm and cold brights are combined with coloured darks and dark neutrals. Gold and a fresh pastel shade add an extra touch of luxury.

Materials- velvet, tweed, silk, satin, leather: shining or tooled, cut glass, coloured glass, shining foil, ribbon, paper, wallpaper, dark wood, mahogany.

Shapes- inspired by the Twenties but freshly designed. Aesthetic drapes contrast with sharp and angular shapes. Luxurious couture shapes contrast with aggressive elements.

Patterns- wallpaper patterns, decorative Twenties patterns, paisley patterns, necktie patterns, decorative tattoos and henna patterns (mehndi).

Arrangements
Colour- the arrangements are vibrant with colour. Unusual light and dark combinations underline the feeling of absolute luxury.

Shapes- wrapping and decorating are the most important elements of this Inspiration. The wrapping is done using a variety of materials or even leaves.

Decorating the leaves themselves with paintings (latex) or piercings adds extra excitement.

A number of basic shapes are used for the bouquets, but the most important one is the corsage – in all sizes.

Vases- traditional romantic vase shapes are reinvented. The existing shapes are often magnified or made up of stacked smaller shapes. The vases can be fully or partially patterned. New materials such as rolled or twisted ribbon.

Key words
Elegant and festive, personal decoration, attention to looks, hard and soft, couture and punk, traditional and new, light in the dark.

Colour card

Hot and cold brights from the 2005 colour card are combined with the coloured darks and darker neutral shades. Gold and a fresh pastel add a dash of luxury.

Bouquets / Arrangement
The arrangements are richly coloured. Look out for unusual combinations of light and dark. Packaging and decoration are both important; this bouquet is wrapped in dark foliage.
