The International Horti Fair took place from Wednesday, November 3rd to Saturday, November 6th, 2004.

As always, this was a hectic week for the staff of the Flower Council of Holland. We were extremely happy with our second place prize for the trade fair booth arrangements. However we were even happier with the number of satisfied 'customers' that we saw during the show.

Special Creations

Several of our domestic and international contacts visited the stand, which was located near the entrance of the Holland Hall. This year, Marcel van Dijk was responsible for the variety of arrangements in the stand. The special creations drew a considerable amount of attention. The VKC, a panel of Dutch horticultural judges, rewarded the stand’s arrangements with a silver medal!

The Trade Press

The Flower Council of Holland invited 62 members of the international trade press to take part in the press program. In addition to a press dinner, there were some 60 planned interviews held with various industry organizations. On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, the press visited Amsterdam florists and other companies for basic materials. Early Friday morning, they set off for the auctions at Aalsmeer and Bleiswijk, where they visited various companies including exporters. Exhausted but satisfied, they left for home with enough material for several articles about Dutch ornamental plant cultivation. We accepted their thanks and compliments with pleasure.

A Record!

There were a record number of international participants this year; 118 nationalities showed off their best products and innovations – a choice selection of flowers, plants, and techniques. Fair visitors were treated to a visual feast. Again this year in the House of Plants, designers and stylists developed several style rooms , which once again inspired and delighted the crowd.
