Features of the large flowered Tara (max. diameter 4 inches) include its long, sturdy stems (31 to 35 inches) and long vase life (13 to 16 days after harvest). The flower is also slow to open, making it ideal for export. However, Tara owes its powers of seduction largely to its classic bud lines (up to 2 inches long); curling petals and rich, yellow color.
Sales of this rose grew in just one year from 60,000 to more than 600,000 stems per month. The total sales for Tara in 2007 amounted to nearly 2 million stems. In the first six months of this year, sales for Tara had already exceeded 3 million stems. If sales continue to rise at this rate, Tara could overtake before long the current top selling yellow rose, Ilios!. This has not happened yet, however we can certainly talk of a successful market introduction.
Rosa Tara (Dutch auction product code 100254) is available year round from floral suppliers located at the FloraHolland auction.
