Most asters appear to be lilac but the new Caitlyn has a unique purplish blue colored flower. In fact this aster has already become very popular in less than a year after its launch.

Last year the first 260,000 stems of Aster Caitlyn were supplied to the market. It received above average prices at auction making it one of the most expensive asters. It appears to be doing the same again this year – and for good reason.

Caitlyn stands out because of its clear purplish blue color, which is retained throughout the flower’s vase life and which is enhanced by the pale yellow heart of the flower. Caitlyn’s compact flower head, also makes it more impressive in an attractively packaged bouquet. The flower has an excellent vase life: following transport and shop simulation the flower continued to look good for at least 12 days. The leaves retained their fresh green color during this time.

Aster Caitlyn (Dutch auction code 27711) has been supplied to the FloraHolland and Aalsmeer cut flower auctions since week 13. Supply is expected to continue until week 41.

Successful market launch: Successful market acceptance of a new cut flower variety.
