Less than eight months after its introduction Rosa Bordeaux is obviously a resounding market success. This is an exclusive rose with first rate features.

The large flowered Rosa Bordeaux may look traditional but it meets all contemporary demands such as, an excellent vase life of 14 to 15 days. The velvety red flowers are harvested when the buds are just bursting – a little more mature than Passion but less mature than Grand Prix. It has the great advantage that the bud does not continue to open in the refrigeration and it has tough leaves and stems. The buds open well once the flower reaches its final destination and it retains its magnificent color throughout its vase life. This is a rose that guarantees long term enjoyment.

The rose was first launched in August 2005 at the FloraHolland flower auction and was immediately welcomed by the wholesale. Not just because of the bottle of Bordeaux wine presented to each of the buyers on the first day at auction! Rosa Bordeaux has also been on sale at the Aalsmeer flower auction since September and at the German auction in Herongen since January 2006. In 2005 around 587,000 stems of Rosa Bordeaux were sold at an average auction price of 52 cent each. The stem length is between 23 and 35 inches and the rose is easily recognizable by the special Rosa Bordeaux wrapper or sticker.

Rosa Bordeaux (Dutch auction code 24931) is ideal for glasshouse production using assimilation lighting. The forecast for 2006 is that supply volume will increase.
