The trumpets of the new Asiatic Lily ‘Cheops’ are the color of desert sand and have reddish brown centers.

This is truly a mysterious color combination and was the inspiration for the name ‘Cheops’ after the Egyptian Pharaoh. The huge flowers with diameters of 5 ½ to 6 inches and the presentation of the buds are the real striking features. The buds grow upright helping to reduce the risk of damage in transport as well as enhancing their appearance when used in bouquets.

They have a great vase life, lasting around fourteen days. The buds open fully and, as is the case with all lilies, the number of flowers per stem depends on the size of the bulb. So with a bulb size of 6 ½ inches this variety will produce five or more blooms per stem. Lilium Asiatic Group ‘Cheops’ (Dutch auction code 27257) will be available at Dutch auctions until the end of October. In 2007 expectations are that the volume will be sufficient enough to be supplied year round.

New arrival: A recent introduction of a new and distinctive cut flower.
