Thanks to factors such as a strong growth within the product category, the demand for colored callas continues to rise. At the same time the quality of the assortment is constantly being improved. Zantedeschia ‘Captain Amigo®’ is a prime example of this. It’s features include the large flower, the sturdy stem and a vase life of at least ten days. The breeders must have been thinking along the lines ‘Your best amigo is your image’.

The real attraction however, lies in the flower itself. The golden yellow trumpet with the almost incidental, refined flames of red, has a very exclusive look. It is an ideal flower for high end arrangements and will also play the star role in any bouquet in which it appears. It should come as no surprise, that the average price of ‘Captain Amigo®’ lies well above the market average.

In the year in which Zantedeschia ‘Captain Amigo®’ (Dutch Auction code 100499) was introduced, almost 32,000 stems were sold. This year production will be expanded to the area of two growers. The average stem length will also increase now that the plant material from the first source is reaching maturity. The flower is available from in the market from early April to the end of August.
