Tips for care During storage

  • The ideal storage temperature is 37 to 39°F;
  • Store in fresh water;
  • Alstroemeria does not open quickly and can therefore be stored at 48°F;
  • Ensure leaves are not hanging in the water to prevent the water from becoming contaminated quickly;
  • The leaves can yellow prematurely and are easily bruised;
  • Alstroemeria is sensitive to ethylene, produced by ripening fruit, fruit-vegetables (e.g. tomatoes) and also by the flowers themselves. If the cool room is not well ventilated, the flowers can produce so much ethylene that the concentration of the gas can rise in the cool room. The quality of the flowers will then rapidly deteriorate.

Tips for care During transport

  • The ideal transport temperature is 37 to 50°F;
  • Alstroemeria is not sensitive to low temperatures and can also be transported at higher temperatures, i.e. 48°F, as the flowers do not open quickly;
  • Keep dry transport time to a minimum;
  • Ensure leaves are not hanging in the water during transport in water.
