Explanation of the name
Ageratum is derived from the Greek word ageratos, meaning ‘never getting old’. The name is a reference to its long flowering period. Houstonianum refers to the Scot who discovered the plant. W. Houston (1695-1733), was a collector of plants in North America and the West Indies.
