Spring has arrived bringing glorious bursts of bright colors and fresh fragrances, that are thrilling our senses. For me though, it's that wonderful crisp, crackling sound fresh tulips make when being handled that truly signals spring's arrival.

Colors of spring

Trend watching is vital for your business. What are spring fashion's trendy new colors? If for instance soft, pastel colors - salmon, peach, light blue… – are 'in' this spring, your floral displays should also feature these colors. As customers browse from retail store to store, they expect to see a certain color-coordinated, commercial continuum. What colors will they find in your floral shop? Only Easter's traditional yellows? The same colors as last year and the year before? No! This year, emphasize your store's trendy edge by presenting customers with flowers in this spring's trendy new colors!

Secretary's Day

April offers a wonderful marketing opportunity: Secretary's Day, the day when bosses honor their secretaries with beautiful bouquets. However because Secretary's Day isn't yet as successfully marketed as Valentine's Day or Easter, it's your job to help promote it! Ensure that no boss 'forgets' Secretary's Day this year! Direct marketing is key: Research your local companies, compile names of company directors and then - a week before the big day - mail, email or fax them a helpful reminder, a letter or flyer offering a special 'Secretary's Day bouquet' of fresh spring flowers.

Great sales day

Never offer roses as Secretary's Day bouquets. Roses are too intimate for employer-employee relationships. Instead, offer an elegant, 20-stem mixed bouquet.  For spring bouquets, branches from chestnut, curly willow and hazelnut trees are especially delightful when mixed with hyacinths or tulips!  Also offer cards, vases… a complete Secretary's Day gift package. This April 27th, make Secretary's Day a great sales day!
