Modern technology allows us to communicate in many ways we never dreamed would be possible only a few years ago.  Now it’s the norm to send text messages, emails, use MSN Messenger and social networking groups to ‘speak’ to friends and colleagues.

And as you’d expect our latest inspiration theme uses flowers to do the talking to quote an old ad.

Flowers can talk!  In fact Talking Flowers tells a story, can send a message or whatever you want them to do!

The rose is well known as a messenger – after all we send thousands on Valentine’s day to express our love.  So this summer the rose in all its many colours will play the leading role in this inspiration.

It will be about making your message personal – far from the easy digital communication we are all too familiar with which some people feel is too impersonal.  Flowers can change all this!

Pink, purple, yellow and red are the principal trend setting colours.

Shapes of bouquets and arrangements will be compact and often carried – or worn - on the body!

‘I want to say it with flowers’ becomes something completely new and something you can use to give your designs even more of a personal touch.

Flowers to get those tongues wagging

• Roses traditionally symbolic of love

• Gloriosa for honour or fame

• Convallaria (lily of the valley) for friendship

• Centaurea – this blue cornflower means that summer’s here because true blue flowers are only available in summer

• Eucharis means charming – and it is!

• Peony for the most beautiful
