The unique feature of Anigozanthos is its velvet looks. Some of the newcomer’s strong points include its lavish flowering habit and the compact, full plants as well as its ability to keep on producing new flowers. With a life span of at least three months, it thrives indoors but can survive outdoors and is able to withstand up to three degrees of frost. It continues to flower until late in the season. Dead heading is recommended to encourage flowering.
Anigozanthos ‘Home Jewel’ (vbn code not yet known) is supplied in a 12.5 cm pot. Supplies of the yellow variety started this year and a pink and red variety are expected to follow. The limited supply to the auctions will last until October this year and the season will start again in April 2008.
Anigozanthos is also available under the name ‘Garden Jewel’, but then in larger pot sizes and equipped with garden friendly properties.
