It’s not only their unusual and vibrant colours that make the Carnaval series stand out, but also their considerably larger flowers and their height of 30 – 40cm. The plant life tests also showed that they were long lasting. Carnaval Flame still exhibited sufficient ornamental value after 21 days, while Carnaval Robina kept its good looks even after 35 days. The plants are suitable for use indoors as well as outdoors on a balcony or patio. They are supplied in 12 cm pots with three flowers or more.
Celosia argentea Carnaval Robina (vbn code 25756) and Carnaval Flame (vbn code 25757) were launched at the Dutch flower auctions in 2006. In the first year Robina and Flame sold 75,000 and 47,000 plants respectively at well above the average price of Caracas and the standard varieties. This year greater numbers of the Carnaval varieties will be available: 3000 to 4000 plants per week, from week 20 to week 44. The plants can be supplied in mixed trays on request.
