This is down to its almost black, lightly waved leaves with their deep pink markings that give the impression of subtle neon lighting. Not only that, but the petioles are a deep reddish brown. All of this makes ‘Dottie’ an exquisite houseplant. Tests at the FloraHolland auction also showed that the plant has an excellent life span. The elliptical, almost rubbery leaves can achieve diameters of 20 to 25 cm and have a “sleep position” like all the other Calatheas. They reach heights of 60 to 70 cm when planted in 19 cm pots.
Calathea roseo-picta ‘Dottie’ (vbn code 100405) has been on sale since May 2007 and is available all year round.
