My Orchids: Peter Göttfert, orchid florist
Why do you only sell orchids?
In 1995 there was no specialized orchid shop in Stockholm. As it is the largest and most varied plant family, I thought: why not?

What fascinates you about orchids?
The enormous variety of colours, shapes and sizes. Orchids grow all over the world, but we only sell species from tropical and subtropical areas.

Which orchid do you sell most?
Phalaenopsis is our best selling orchid of course, but Dendrobium, Paphiopedilum and Odontoglossum are becoming increasingly popular.

Who are your customers?
We have all kinds of customers, from Sweden and abroad. Collectors and customers who are looking for something special, but also walk-in shoppers who just want a special gift.

Do you also sell them as cut flowers?
In the beginning we had cut orchids in the shop but our customers were more interested in the plants, as there was virtually no difference in price.

What is your favourite orchid?
Of course we have our favourites, but the list would become too long to mention here.

Do you have tips for your colleagues?
Orchids are perennials and should be treated as such. This is why it makes more sense to buy a high quality plant that can flower every year, than a cheap plant that has been raised too quickly and consequently has to be discarded once flowering is over.
