Talking Flowers: Bouquets with a message < back

“My passion involves conjuring up specific emotions using flowers, preferably with a personalised bouquet. To do this, I will be using expressive flowers, exciting colour combinations and unusual shapes this summer,” says arranger Elize Eveleens.

“The inspirational theme Talking Flowers suits me and my style of flower binding perfectly. I prefer to let the flowers have their say and use them to get a message across from heart to heart. Every flower has an individual character and I always remember this when putting together a bouquet. Take the rose for example: it makes every other flower fade by comparison. Just a few stems are enough to tell an entire story. I also like to create bouquets that suit the personality of the recipient, that mirror the soul.  Wilful Gloriosa, charming lily of the valley and quirky Craspedia are truly expressive summer flowers. It goes without saying that cool cornflowers are an absolute must this summer. My advice,- be aware of the expressive power of flowers and use this well in your bouquets.”

Tips: Say it with roses
Anything goes this summer, just as long as it is personal and special. Why not make a flower arrangement that can be worn as an accessory . Combine cheerful summer colours like pink, red, orange, yellow and pale blue with lots of green and neutral shades. At the centre we always find one of the many varieties of rose, because of its symbolism and powers of communication. It is a well known fact that a single rose can say more than a thousand words.
