What kind of work do you do?
I am a florist in Budapest. I also regularly give demonstrations for florists from all over Hungary.
What is your passion?
I adore surprising people with floral creations. I am also interested in interior design and have two shops, one in traditional and the other in contemporary style.
Do you sell many Alstroemerias?
Yes, I always stock them and sell at least 120 stems a week in each shop, mainly in mixed bouquets.
What do you like best about the flower?I love Alstroemerias because they come in such a wide range of fabulous colours. In addition they are really strong flowers, having a vase life of at least 10 days.
How do you use Alstroemerias?
I combine them in various colours or mix them with other flowers, for example roses. I also break some of the large flowers off the stems to use in flower arrangements.
What are your favourite colours? In spring I have a preference for pale colours, in summer I like white – for wedding flowers – and red. In autumn and winter I tend to go for orange, red or hot pink.
How do you need to treat them?
I slant cut a piece off the stems and replace the water every day that’s all. Cut flower food is not necessary. This is a truly easy flower.
Who would you like to give a bouquet of Alstroemerias to?
To my mother because she is the most beautiful woman in the world.
More attention to quality
Top quality Alstroemeria – also called Inca lily – is recognisable by the fresh green wrapper with its First Class logo. First Class Alstroemerias are heavier (at least 65 g per stem), more mature (all the buds are showing colour) and more uniform (the maximum deviation in a bunch is +/- 10% and all the stems have the same level of maturity) than the run of the mill Alstroemerias. All Alstroemerias have a good vase life. For more information see
