Spirituality unites < back

“I firmly believe that flowers can bring people closer together, irrespective of their religion or ethnic background. The language of flowers is international, in the same way as dance and music. Flowers help you communicate emotion without having to say a word,” so says designer Elize Eveleens.

“For me spirituality means a belief in Mother Nature. I am not a particularly religious person but I do feel connected to the earth. I believe that everyone believes in something and in my case it is the primal power of nature. I have tried to capture this power in Natural Worship, the inspirational theme for the coming spring. I have added symbols from various religions to the floral work. They add a concept: respect, worship, love or reflection. I also believe there is a place for spirituality in business. Without inspiration there is no way forward. It is essential to present this theme with conviction. You must be fully behind it. Empathy with others is what it’s all about.”

Tips: In the shop
Create loosely tied bouquets, rich with symbolism, as an homage to nature. Use soft colours and the occasional religious pendant. Use delicate, romantic spring flowers, like Freesia, Narcissus, Rosa, Syringa, Tulipa and Lilium. Combine these with natural twigs, tree bark etc. Pale and dark neutral colours are best, supplemented by pale accents taken from the various colour groups. In all cases the use of colour is secondary to the message.
